The village of Longton is a ten minute stroll away where you will find all the amenities you need.
Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve is a further ten minutes away. This Wetland Nature Reserve situated off Liverpool Road, covers over 11 hectares (27 acres), and has a visitor centre, picnic area and free car park. This site of local conservation importance is a managed reserve on the site of the former Bentley Brick works.
A wide range of wildlife can be observed from the pathways including a changing population of birds that enjoy the habitat of the south lake. The visitor centre contains informative displays on the site's history and the wildlife you can find there.
The start of the Ribble way can be easily found by walking from Woodnook, either through the countryside via a footpath at the rear of the garden, or by going down the Lane. The Dolphin Inn is also situated here where you can enjoy great food and real ales.
